Sports was an important part of my upbringing. When I was at school I played in the girls football team. This is one of the first times when I recall being good at something. I remember scoring goals (I was a striker), travelling for football competitions and most importantly being part of a team.
As a teenager I signed up to join a dancing team. Dancing became an important part of my life for over 7 years and taught me many valuable lessons. I learnt that the harder I train the better I became and that you don’t always win but it doesn’t mean that you should stop trying. It taught me to overcome my fears (like performing in front of people) and I made some great friends throughout these years.
Sports had a vital role in shaping my personality that is why when I saw the She Plays We Win project founded by Christin Rose I knew I had to interview her.
She Plays We Win is a photo project dedicated to young girl athletes. It celebrates the confidence that sports provides young girls by capturing powerful, young, female athletes in action.
“I started She Plays We Win because I was searching for something within my photography. I really needed something that I could stand for and have a voice. When I started searching for that I was so reminded of my childhood and how fortunate I was to have the opportunity to play sports”, says Christin.
